Webber Claims Third Win This Year At The 2010 British GP

Over the weekend the 2010 F1 World Championship Series travelled to England for the tenth race of the season, and taking place at the historically rich Silverstone saw the 2010 British Grand Prix go ahead, which did not disappoint at the half mark of the season.

Starting from second place on the grid, Webber immediately advanced to lead the race in the opening lap and did not look back.

Lewis Hamilton came second overall after advancing from fourth on the grid, and is still sitting pretty on the top of the leader board, 12 points clear of teammate Jenson Button.

Button had a disappointing qualifying round, taking 14th place on the grid, but started the race well overtaking six cars to move him up to eighth place in the first lap.

The British driver and defending champion, who has never won at Silverstone in front of a home crowd, nor even finished on the podium, finished fourth overall and will have to wait another year for his next attempt.

Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg took his third podium finish of the season, crossing the line third, while teammate Michael Schumacher was stuck way back in ninth spot.

Sebastian Vettel had gone into the race as favourite to take the win, however teammate to Webber, Vettel finished seventh overall.

It was a disappointing start for the Red Bull driver, after taking pole position he started slow and received a puncture on his first lap, which puts him into fourth place on the leader board – 44 points behind Hamilton.

McLarens’ lead at the top of the constructors table is continuing to grow, 29 points ahead of the second-placed Red Bull, with Ferrari a further 36 points behind.

Next up on the 2010 F1 Championship Series is the 2010 German Grand Prix which will go ahead at the Hockenheimring on the 25th of July.
